Take Control with the Mediterranean Diet

You’ve heard it for years and finally scientists have proven that it is possible to improve your health, improve your level of fitness, and improve your mental clarity by eating properly. Unfortunately, there are far too many fad diets, gimmicks, and other so-called miracle diets on the market today. The sad truth of the matter is that these fads and miracle cures just don't work. If you're among the many who have fallen victim to miracle cures and fad diets for your health and well-being, the following information may be of help to you.

Believe it or not, scientific research has revealed that there is one diet that is as close to perfect as possible. And that even with the great number of preservatives, additives, and other components that are now found in most of our food, one particular diet is proven to improve health, promote weight loss, and believe it or not, even improve the clarity and brilliance of the skin!

The diet in question is called the Mediterranean diet. The reason the Mediterranean diet is so successful and beneficial is the fact that its components are based on sound nutritional principles. Instead of eliminating one food group altogether (such as carbohydrates), the men and women eating the Mediterranean diet ingest a moderate and healthy level of all the major food groups. Granted -- the majority of the foods and taken in on the Mediterranean diet are within the category of fruits and vegetables. However, participants are not completely forbidden to eat pasta, bread, rice, and those other staple foods that we've grown so accustomed to.

There is also evidence that indicates the Mediterranean diet has been proven to help combat major illness in the human body. Eating a well-balanced diet that is based on sound nutritional principles is a major contributor to the eradication of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, arteriosclerosis, obesity, and a host of other life threatening, and life ending diseases. Unfortunately, most Americans will fail to maintain a healthy diet. This is due in part to the fact that so many of us have become accustomed to eating the standard American diet.

The standard American diet is, on average, about 40% convenience food. After that 40% level of convenience food (which includes McDonald's, Burger King, frozen foods, toaster waffles, and so on) comes restaurant food that is prepared in the kitchen, but not necessarily homemade. It is all too common today that Americans eat out, order out, or microwave their meals. The good news is, the Mediterranean diet offers dieters the opportunity to partake of healthy, well-balanced meals that take a mere fraction of the time to prepare as do more traditional entrées.

If you're interested in taking control of your health, and taking control of your weight, consider embarking on the Mediterranean diet. Try the Mediterranean diet for a mere three weeks, and you're guaranteed to see results.
